“MARCHING
BAND” IS LEE SHADOW PLAY GRAND WINNER
Robert Reyes, a freelance
events photographer, found out about the Lee Shadow Play online contest - that
ran during the entire month of August- and uploaded “Marching Band”, a photo he
took during the annual Ibon-Ebon festival in Candaba, Pampanga.
Lee Jeans Philippines
executives, creative director Dale Lopez and visual artist Kiko Escora, both Lee
Urban Riders x Manila Fixed Gear designers, with fashion photographer Kai Huang
reviewed all entries and judged Reyes’ Marching Band photo as most
meritoriously artistic, worthy of being the Lee Shadow Play contest grand
winner.
Reyes said that since he
was facing the sun when he took the photo, the subject produced silhouettes,
“and when I inverted the picture, the resulting shadow became more distinguished
and clearly showed that the shadow was a marching band.”
Lee Shadow Play contest
winners were announced and received their prizes during the culminating party
held recently at the B-Side Bar in Makati
City .
On top of bragging rights
for his winning photo, Reyes pocketed US$2,000, while each of the three
runners-up (1st runner up – Kliene Manaois Eco – “Going Home”, 2nd
runner up – Aldin Krisnan Barrido – “The Right Form of Christmas”, 3rd
runner up – Cy P. Mercado – “Monster Shadow”) brought home a
Lee Urban Riders x Manila Fixed Gear fixie bike designed by a team headed by Kiko
Escora and Dale Lopez.
The music of Pasok mga
Bwitre and Nyko Maca with Gafieira added audio delight to the event that made a
perfect ending to Lee Shadow Play, which is the counterpart of Lee’s
region-wide The City is Mine online photography contests.
