Tourism Board Unveils Collaboration with Up Dharma Down with the Launch of
A
New Single and Music Video Inspired by Their Experiences in Singapore
To
Filipinos, music is an integral part of everyday life. Narrating life’s ups and
downs, putting the spotlight on both the extraordinary and the mundane, and
conveying every nuance of human emotion, music is as universal as any medium of
artistic expression can get.
Award-winning
Philippine indie act Up Dharma Down unveils a new narrative with the launch of
“All the Good Things,” the band’s latest single and music video. The band tapped
on their talent, originality and imagination, to weave together a musical
tapestry inspired by their unique experiences in one of their favorite destinations
– Singapore.
Singapore Tourism
Board’s collaboration with the band signals a refreshed initiative to invite
Filipino travelers to see Singapore in a whole new light and to share with them
the unique experiences available in Singapore, as seen through the eyes of the
band. With the unveiling of “All the Good Things,” Up Dharma Down creatively captures
their Singapore experiences into one song. “The song is about having an idea of
what’s good but only coming to terms with it upfront by actually doing
something about it, such as traveling after a long time of toying with the idea
of it. It’s about being open to new experiences, having that proactivity and
positive outlook. We saw that during our trip in Singapore and we thought that
it is a lot like us as a band. Always moving forward and always innovating,”
shares Armi Millare, the band’s vocalist.
Directed by Johan
Polhem, former Senior Creative Director at MTV Australia and Gold Awardee for
Music Video at the New York Film Festival, the music video was inspired by the
creativity, progressiveness and energy of Singapore. Stunning aerial footages provide
fluidity and scale to the video for a different perspective of the vibrant city.
Computer graphics and kaleidoscope effects also create a dreamscape that evokes
the city’s spirit of innovation.
The band’s
inspirational video documenting their exciting visit draws back the curtains on
a fun and thrilling side of the country they had not experienced before. It
takes us through Up Dharma Down’s journey to various iconic and
off-the-beaten-track locations in Singapore, sharing the experiences and
personal moments that inspired them to create their new song.
The trip took the
band on visits to quirky places like Haji Lane to explore concept stores that featured
unique creations by local designers and artisans, and stops at various Mod-Sin
cuisine establishments like Pidgin Kitchen & Bar and 2am:dessertbar that
reimagined local hawker favorites into gastronomic innovations.
Attractions like
Gardens by the Bay and the Henderson Waves captivated the band with its
marvelous sights, and Carlos TaƱada, the band’s guitarist, even got to
experience being driven in a Ferrari through parts of the famous Marina Bay street
circuit used for the Grand Prix night races. They capped off their visit to
Singapore by immersing themselves in the city’s bustling nightlife, drinking
signature brews at LeVeL33 and hanging out with local musicians, The Next
Movement, at The Mad Men Attic Bar.
“’All the Good Things captures the soul and
spirit of the Singapore we have come to love over the years. We’re beyond proud
and happy to have done something so special,” shares the band. “Travel is one of the most inspiring
experiences for any artist, and our trip to Singapore was a journey that opened
our eyes to another side of it. We’ve been to Singapore before but it was
mostly for work and we always feel that it has something new to offer.”
Singapore Tourism
Board’s Area Director for Philippines & Brunei, Mr Adrian Kong, added, “Through
this collaboration with Up Dharma Down, we hope that Filipino travelers will view
Singapore as a destination where they can partake in unique experiences across
retail, dining, entertainment and attractions .”
