Grand Atrium this December
Christmas is truly in the air and Shangri-La Plaza continues to share the gift of joy as it unwraps more inspired holiday experiences with Christmas Ensembles featuring live ballet performances and choral music at the Grand Atrium this December.
Starting off Shang’s Christmas Ensembles series is Ballet Manila on December 15, 6:30PM. Known as storytellers on toes, the prolific and sought-after ballet company in the Philippines is showcasing excerpts from the classic Snow White ballet, choreographed by their artistic director and prima ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde. Ballet Manila is also performing pieces inspired by beloved Filipino Christmas carols.
On the weekend before Christmas, Shang is making the season even more wonderful with festive and nostalgic yuletide melodies. Ateneo Boys Choir is bringing its holiday tunes to the Grand Atrium on December 20, 6:30PM. One of the oldest student organizations in the Ateneo de Manila Grade School, the choir is composed of grade school students. The group has participated in various choral competitions and has recorded a collection of Filipino folk songs, classical music, and Ateneo hymns.
On December 21, 6:30PM, feel the spirit of the season with some performances from St. Theresa’s College Grade School SInag Choral.
Rounding out the Christmas Ensembles series is the acclaimed Mandaluyong Children’s Choir on December 22, 6:30PM. Composed of talented boys and girls, the group has been recognized for winning numerous awards and for its outstanding performances around the country and abroad. The choir’s repertoire includes a wide variety of genres, from classical to pop, and it aims to promote Filipino music and culture through its performances. Its repertoire for its Shang performance includes timeless Paskong Pinoy songs featuring homemade musical instruments.
