Powerhouse Tools, a leading provider of quality welding machines and construction tools in the Philippines, has partnered with Power Skills Technical Center (PSTC) to improve welding education in the Philippines. Powerhouse has provided PSTC with 12 inverter machines and 12 angle grinders to help welding students succeed in today's competitive welding industry.
This collaboration combines Powerhouse Tools’ commitment to quality and innovation with PSTC’s expertise in vocational training. Together, they aim to empower the Philippine welding community and boost the local economy through enhanced educational resources and job-ready skills.
They also aim to provide aspiring and existing welders opportunities to sharpen their technical skills and access high-quality construction tools.
A Partnership with a Purpose
As an advocate for local talent, Powerhouse Tools is dedicated to supporting the skills development of Filipino workers, particularly those in technical trades. The partnership with PSTC underscores this mission, providing students and seasoned welders with training programs incorporating the latest welding techniques and technologies.
During the contract signing, PSTC President Michael Louie Jose emphasized the center’s role in nurturing Filipino welding talent and helping them achieve global standards of excellence.
Kendrick Siy, sales and marketing director of Powerhouse Tools, also echoed PSTC’s mission. He highlighted the importance of high-quality welding machines and the company’s commitment to supporting the Philippines’ industrial growth.
Strengthening the Industry
PSTC’s Shielded Metal Arc Welding program focuses on hands-on training. It covers skills such as welding joints, reading blueprints, and advanced techniques like vertical-up and overhead welding.
In a country where skilled labor plays a crucial role in the economy, the Powerhouse-PSTC alliance comes as a positive force for Philippine communities.
Investing in the skills development of Filipino welders enables the two parties to improve individual livelihoods and the overall quality of work in sectors that rely heavily on welding expertise.
This partnership marks the start of a transformative journey that will benefit the welding community and beyond. It will expand access to quality tools, technical education, and job opportunities, reinforcing Powerhouse Tools’ vision of a future where Filipino welders stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best in the world.
Overseas Demand for Filipino Welders
Welding is becoming a highly sought-after skill globally, with strong opportunities for Filipino workers. Countries like Poland are actively recruiting skilled welders, pipe fitters, and construction workers due to workforce shortages caused by an aging population and the effects of the war in Ukraine.
Denmark also launched a "Positive List for Skilled Work" highlighting 36 in-demand jobs to meet its growing labor needs. These jobs include welders, blacksmiths, CNC operators, and industrial technicians.
In 2023, Saudi Arabia opened about 1 million jobs for Filipino workers in construction and welding.
Belgium similarly released a list of jobs for foreign workers due to a labor shortage in essential sectors like construction and industrial fields. Welding is one of these critical professions, with demand particularly coming from Wallonia. Other regions like Brussels and Flanders sought plumbers, construction specialists, and machinery drivers.
