PHLPost and Boy Scout of the Philippines exhibits Guinness Books’ largest collection of Stamps in Ilocos Sur

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines and the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) successfully launched an exhibit featuring the Boy Scouts of the Philippines and Pope Philatelic Stamps at the Van Gogh Hotel, Ilocos Sur.

The exhibit showcases various stamps that highlight the history and spirit of scouting in the country and the significant role of the Catholic Church in inspiring and guiding the people.

Mr. Kim Robert de Leon, the Secretary General of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, graced the event as he holds two Guinness World Records for his extensive stamp collections.

Mr. Kim De Leon’s other collections include stamps featuring Scouts, which is also certified by Guinness, and some other collections featuring Christmas and the Madonna, among others.

In 2022, he achieved the record for the largest collection of stamps featuring Popes, totaling 2,398 stamps. This collection primarily includes stamps of Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis, both of whom have visited the Philippines.

BSP Secretary General Kim began collecting stamps as a hobby and has a keen interest in Popes specifically due to the fact he is an active member in a Church Ministry. His stamp collections featuring Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis have been displayed in several Papal Roadshow Exhibits in the country.

The Pope Stamp Exhibit was attended by Mayor Eric D. Singson, officials from the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, representatives from the PHLPost and other distinguished guests, emphasizing the importance of philately in preserving history. The exhibit aims to promote unity, service, and faith through unique stamps that reflect the rich culture and history of the Philippines.
